Lempitlaw |
||
|
The hamlet of Lempitlaw had a mediaeval church, but all that now remains is the graveyard, the church building having disappeared since 1791. Having been a parish in its own right, Lempitlaw parish was united with Sprouston after the Reformation. In 1122, the church was granted with all its lands to the House of the Holy Trinity at Soutra - now known as Soutra Aisle. The graveyard has some interesting stones in it including a rare hogsback stone which may date from the 10th century. Back to: Articles |
